Information about the Nonprofit Blog Exchange

September 1, 2005 at 12:50 pm

I volunteered to coordinate the pilot-version of Deborah’s idea of nonprofits exchanging blogs for a day.

What is the Nonprofit Blog Exchange?

The Nonprofit Blog Exchange will be a day (or whatever is decided) where nonprofit bloggers will exchange blogs. This is for any blogger who works for or with mission-based organizations.

There will be a list of blogs and I will randomly assign them a blog to exchange with. The blogger can then write an entry in their blog about the blog they have visited and/or write comments in the blog they have exchanged with.

Logo Explanation

While coming up with an idea for the logo for the Nonprofit Blog Exchange, I remembered a poem I read once about crayons. This poem fit well with the idea of the exchange and the idea I had of designing the logo.

The poem I was remembering is called The Box of Crayons.

Here is the quote from the end of the poem:

“We are a box of crayons
each of us unique,
but when we get together
the picture is complete.”

How does this relate to the Nonprofit Blog Exchange?

Everyone in the nonprofit sector is unique. Some are from different countries or cultures. Some have different areas of expertise.

Each organization is different. They have different missions. They have different strengths and weaknesses.

By pairing up nonprofit bloggers with different backgrounds, they will be able to help each other out.

It will be interesting to see what happens with the Nonprofit Blog Exchange.
